Agrotourism is a way to discover Ibiza in a rural environment also known as Rural Tourism. Agrotourismos are found in smaller villages. Due to the fact that any agroturimso has to be an active producer of fruits or vegetables, they are mostly found in isolated countryside, nested since generations on a large plot of land away from any urban nucleus.
In order to be classified as agrotourism, a property must make a part of its income from the land.
The main attraction of agrotourism is the possibility of being in contact with nature, calm, honest cuisine made with locally grown fresh products, and sometimes the possibility to meet authentic farm people, learning about their lives, food production and harvesting. In Ibiza, around 30 old farming country houses have been converted into country hotels, in the majority of cases in the luxury segment. Trend: some agroturismo settings are so attractive that international fashion shows, magazine shootings and product launches are held there. This demonstrates that "chic countryside" is very fashionable and a trendy way to stays away from the hustle and bustle of cities.
